AVID Launches New 'V2' Tonearms as Part of its 30th Anniversary
AVID’s new 'V2' tonearms gain bias control tech
AVID rolls out the first of its 30th anniversary celebration products with new Altus and Nexus V2 arms
15 January 2025, Cambridgeshire, England: AVID, the British founder-owned-and-run hi-fi manufacturer, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, has announced the first new products in a range of launches planned for its milestone year.
The Cambridgeshire company has upgraded both of its tonearms to optimise tracking and improve sound quality. Introduced in 2023, the newly upgraded Altus V2 and Nexus V2 tonearms now benefit from AVID’s revolutionary advancement in bias control technology for even greater performance.
AVID’s research revealed that the bias force required for optimal tracking varies across the record surface. Higher levels of bias force are needed at the beginning and end of the record, while less is required in the middle, with additional variations depending on the cartridge's stylus profile.
Addressing these challenges, AVID’s new tonearms incorporate an innovative bias compensation system, allowing independent adjustments for each section of the record. The new system ensures exceptional accuracy and unparalleled sound quality across the entire playback surface.
Reflecting the significant leap forward in design and performance, a modest increase in price of 10% has been levied, reflecting the R&D costs, the enhanced technology and the craftsmanship involved in the production. Existing Altus and Nexus tonearms can be upgraded at the UK factory for a supplement, via AVID’s global retailer network: avidhifi.com/find-a-dealer
