Chord Electronics wins 2/3 of the 2024 What Hi-Fi? DAC Awards!
Qutest wins Best DAC £700+ for an unprecedented seventhyear; Mojo 2 wins Best DAC £300-£700 a third time14 October 2024: British amplification and digital audio expert Chord Electronics has once again dominated the What Hi-Fi? Awards in the ‘Best DAC’ category, scooping two-thirds of the 2024 honours and extending its unprecedented run of success.
The company’s world-class Qutest won ‘Best DAC’ over £700 for an unparalleled seventh year in succession, while the portable Mojo 2 DAC/headphone amplifier won ‘Best DAC’ £300-£700 for an impressive third year in row.
Notably, the Mojo 2’s predecessor, the 2015-launched Mojo, won the ‘Best DAC’ Award every successive year until it was replaced in 2022. The most desirable honours in the hi-fi industry have been awarded to Chord Electronics’ British designed and manufactured DACs for over a decade.
The company famously rejects the limitations of mass-produced off-the-shelf chips used in most DACs on the market, instead favouring powerful programmable chipsets (FPGAs) embedded with unique custom digital code for unrivalled sonic and measured performance.
The 2024 Awards further cement Chord Electronics’ position as a global authority in digital conversion technology, with a portfolio of class-leading DAC solutions including the premium Hugo 2, Hugo TT 2 and flagship DAVE.
The Kent company’s What Hi-Fi? Awards success extends far beyond the Mojo 2 and Qutest, with previous honours for the (existing) Hugo 2 and its predecessor Hugo (2014), plus the Qutest’s predecessors: the 2Qute; the QuteEX and the QuteHD, as far back as 2013.
In 2023, following reduced global chipset prices post-pandemic, the Mojo 2 and Qutest benefitted from price reductions to £395 (was £495) and £1,195 (was £1,395) respectively.
